Unnecessary closure

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3535858.
Approaching from selvage lane, there are now only 2 lanes able to proceed onto Apex Corner roundabout. However, there are 3 lanes on Apex corner going from Selvage Lane to A1 N open, so why shut off a lane on the approach? Also, approaching from A41/A1 Mill Hill, there are 3 lanes open on Apex conrer roundabout. Why only allow 2 lanes to proceed onto the rounabout. Ditto coming south from A1. The lane closures on the rounabout have not been fully thought through. Please fully explain and justify these lane closures, showing me how you came to the decision to close the lane off, what modelling you used and who has approved it. Please do not just reply it is for safety, but I would like a full response showing all stages of this process. (as it is exam season in schools and students are having issues getting to school, please feel free to treat this as an exam question!).

Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. These closures are required as we need to complete essential maintenance work on the A41 Edgware Way bridge (over the M1 and National Rail tracks). This essential maintenance work is vital to ensuring that the road network and infrastructure here can continue to operate safely for years to come. The works commenced on the 1st April until summer 2022. Construction will be completed in stages to help minimise impacts, and will consist of a series of lane only and directional full closures of the A41 and overnight lane closures on the M1. For full details see tfl.gov.uk/edgware-way. All temporary changes to roads in the area have been designed to support the rapid completion of this work For short journeys in and around the area it is likely to be quicker to walk or cycle, where possible. If your journey is east/west across London and you do not need local access the M25 can be used as an alternative. If you are travelling to or from central London, the A1 and the A10 can be used as alternatives. These routes are also anticipated to be busier because of additional traffic caused by the works. Please plan ahead and leave more time for your journey.
