Pedestrians spilling over into cycle lane - worsened by new bollards trapping cyclists

Reported via desktop in the Pavement Overcrowding category anonymously at 19:57, Thursday 19 May 2022

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3537941.

Since the recent introduction of bollards on the cycle lane on Westminster Bridge, it is extremely dangerous for cyclists with pedestrians not looking whether cyclists are approaching.

Street entertainers/sellers exacerbate the problem. For example, today at 5.30pm there were numerous street entertainers on the north side of Westminster Bridge. They were positioned in a way that caused congestion and led to lots of pedestrians walking in the cycle lane without looking for oncoming cyclists.

I have nearly been knocked off almost every single time I have used the cycle lane on my commute to/from work.

In the current road setup, it is now safer for cyclists to use the car lanes than the cycle lane - which points to a design failure and is dangerous.
