Severe congestion being caused by traffic light timing at chalkers corner meaning that only a few cars can move from chiswick Bridge towards Richmond at a time.

  • Chaos in every direction-cars able turn right from Lower Richmond rd into Clifford ave in face of oncoming traffic from Chiswick Bridge. There will be a serious accident.

  • Massive congestion on Clifford Avenue that is causing problems all the way back to the A4 and Hammersmith because the sequence of the traffic lights have been changed not allowing more than four or five cars to pass at one time. Please change back to previous sequence asap or we will have complete gridlock.

  • Still not fixed at 10pm even though reported early in the day. This junction is just a very serious accident waiting to happen. There is no point to the current sequence so it has to be an error. Fix it!

  • First noticed the issue Monday morning as I was stuck in traffic backed up across Chiswick Bridge at approximately 7:30am. Issue not fixed Monday evening at 7pm and traffic backed up almost to Hogarth Roundabout/A4. Timings still incorrect Tuesday morning at 7:20am, traffic backed up to Hartington Road.

  • Tuesday 14th 9am - traffic light timing at Chalker’s corner still not corrected and causing 30 min delay from Chiswick heading to Richmond. Probably backing up to Hammersmith. This needs to be fixed asap.

  • The timings on the lights have been changed or are faulty. This is the second day, with unnecessary long delays, and dangerous queuing. I see there is a statement to the effect this is seen as non-urgent, and will be dealt with in 28 days. Given the importance of this junction and these roads, for local and wider traffic needs, it does seem more urgent than that,

  • How can this be categorised as non-urgent when it is clearly dangerous for everyone? The contractors should be there now fixing it. 28 days is ridiculous.^

  • Traffic chaos at Chauker’s Corner. Lights appear to be out of zinc. Been this way for three days now. Why is nothing being done? In particular, the traffic flowing south from Chiswick Bridge can no longer pass through both sets of lights like it used to. Causing major tailbacks

  • Traffic situation horrendous, light phasing southbound on A316, is adding 30 minutes to journey Tim - but there will be a SERIOUS ACCIDENT soon due to cars cutting in / jumping lights. Please fix this URGENTLY.

  • Horrendous delay of 30 mins on Monday and again today, Tuesday. Clearly the traffic lights have an issue as no cars further down the road. Causing grid lock for miles.

  • Still completely out of sync - causing massive delays coming over chiswick bridge and when coming to wards chalkers corner from Kew. Compounded by roadworks on Kew bridge - so making journey in any direction difficult. Please sort asap

  • It’s great that you have acknowledged that there is a problem that needs to be repaired. However a 28 day service level to get it repaired is surely not appropriate for such a significant intersection and traffic hot spot? Other comments have highlighted dangerous behaviour by drivers. I live in Grove Park and this is severely effecting local residents. I would have thought this is an urgent issue. Please can you accelerate the repair or reclassify as urgent. Thank you.

  • This is NOT a non urgent problem! The timing issue with the lights is causing misery for locals who have to use this junction, and worsening pollution on the already heavily congested Lower Richmond Road.

  • You still haven’t sorted the traffic lights at Chalkers Corner which are out of sync and causing huge delays as well as huge amounts of air pollution with all the cars stuck at a standstill! My son missed half of his maths GCSE on Monday because it took me 40 mins to travel 1/4 of a mile! Come on TfL sort these lights out. This is becoming a dangerous junction with cars now jumping the lights in frustration. Can you please sort this out asap

  • This traffic light fault needs to be fixed urgently. There are hundreds of hours wasted every day by drivers waiting at this junction. In addition the extra petrol costs for the extra 30 mins idling time due congestion. The increase in car emissions alone makes this an immediate repair.

  • Why have the lights not been fixed . This is urgent snd is causing absolute chaos in the whole area . It took me an hour and half to do the school run a journey which should be 15 mins max. This has been going on for 2 days . What exactly has to happen for the council and TfL to take notice and do something about it

  • Queued for an hour on Monday from Chiswick to get through the lights, which are out of sync only allowing a few cars though on each sequence. Tuesday diverted via Kew and back-streets, which now experiencing increased congestion and traffic as a result. Many frustrated drivers. There are no other options to get across the river. Correcting the timing sequence needs to be done urgently, it is causing congestion and dangerous traffic levels to the surrounding area.

  • The traffic lights are not synchronised correctly so only about 4 cars get through from chiswick towards richmond took me 1 3/4 hours to get home due to this v dangerous the A316 light goes green at mortlake turn …then the next light is on red at the main junction so nothing can move only what can fit in that small bit nothing can move forward dreadful

  • Traffic, congestion and pollution is terrible over Chiswick bridge, especially coming towards Mortlake and this problem needs to be addressed urgently. This is even more of a problem as this is the only practical route across of the river due to the continued failure to repair Hammersmith Bridge.

  • This is a very urgent problem!! Traffic yesterday evening was backed up to the Hogarth roundabout and onto the Great West Road to Hammersmith. Absolutely unbelievable that its not been fixed as of yesterday as the problem has been evident since Monday 13/6. Local road closures by the council have blocked any alternative routes. Get it fixed NOW.

  • This needs fixing as soon as possible. It’s causing massive tailbacks to the Hogarth Roundabout and is blocking the only access to my street. There are no alternative routes that can be used due to the ridiculous LTNs that have been introduced so this should be upgraded from a “non-urgent” issue because of the increased pollution these delays are causing

  • FIXED! 9am Wednesday the traffic lights seem to have been fixed now with the original timings working. As described above it was causing pointless queues and should be a simple software adjustment. The cynic in me thinks this was deliberate and part of the Mayor's crusade to destroy motorist's lives.

  • This is ridiculous. Still not fixed on Tuesday, but hey this is England, takes time and react. Same thing with drivers moving on on the yellow light. They take their time and that’s another cause of traffic. This light are out of sync. Maybe they want us to buy more petrol.
