Poor quality shared path
Reported via mobile in the Pavement Defect (uneven surface / cracked paving slab) category by Jeremy keates at 09:29, Tue 28 June 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3629633.
The shared path is overgrown with bushes (again) taking up the path. It is already very thin, is a shared path on a steep downward slope, with 40mph+ traffic. Most parts of the 316 have barriers to separate the pavement from this high speed road, yet the most dangerous section of path doesn't.
LTN 1/20 states that a bidirectional cycle lane needs to be at least 3m wide. I doubt it's 3m wide, with bushes and tree stumps it is less and has poor pot marked surface. This is a shared path on a gradient so would need to be significantly wider to meet the basic standard.
This route is a key safe route for children that avoids high traffic areas and links Whitton to Twickenham via the river crane shared pathway.
