Drain and manhole both making loud noises
Reported via desktop in the Manhole Cover - Damaged (rocking or noisy) category anonymously at 18:36, Thu 30 June 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3637977.
The manhole is loose and every time a bus goes over it, it makes a huge loud clunk of a sound. When you look at the picture it seems fine or if a person walks on it it seems fine, but when a bus weighing tonnes drives over it at 20 mph it makes a loud sound. It is even worse at night , when everything it quiet and the double decker buses can travel up to 25mph over it, and a bus coming every few minutes on this busy A10 High street, it wakes me up with a fright, multiple times throughout the night. I am sure the neighbours would agree. The tarmac around this manhole was damaged in the tail end of last year, which was reported and had to be fixed twice. This is perfect now. But they should have also strengthened the manhole so that it has solid footing and is stable. The manhole in the picture is the one in question. the water drain which is closer to the pavement also rattles slightly. so if both can be fixed at the same time. Thank You
