Traffic signal facing wrong direction
Reported via desktop in the Damage - pole leaning / equipment detached from pole/facing the wrong direction category anonymously at 20:13, Sunday 3 July 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3644370.
A traffic light in the centre of Regent Street at the junction with Hanover Street is facing in the wrong direction. The filter right turn signal which should be pointing to the north has been knocked to point to the west. This means that cyclists on Hanover Street start cycling east at the same time as traffic heading South on Regent Street starts turning to the west.
On Wednesday 29 June I nearly collided with a bus when I cycled out of Hanover Street on a green light. I see another cyclist nearly had a collision two days earlier and reported this traffic light on Monday as having a phasing problem. I am concerned that your engineers who checked the lights on Monday didn't spot this fault. Did they visit the site and look at the lights? It looks like you need to improve your inspection practice.
Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. This has now been investigated and we can confirm that there is a fault with these traffic lights. We have therefore passed this to our contractors and as it is classed as an emergency. It will be made safe within 24 hours. Should you need anything else, or if you have any questions, you may wish to contact our customer services team on 0343 222 1234
Please also be aware that, all Action Scheduled reports are automatically closed after 28 days. However, the fault will be fixed within this timescale, which may be sooner, or in a few cases take a little longer.
