Traffic lights are not working
Reported via mobile in the General Fault category anonymously at 19:02, Thu 14 July 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3677325.
The traffic lights tun red and walk sign appears when nobody has pressed the button to cross. This happens every 2 minutes and the beeping sound is excruciating as I live in a property on this road near the lights.
Please can you fix the lights so they only turn red when someone actually presses the button to cross?
Can the loud beeping be removed or changed to the quieter clicking sound I’ve heard at other crossings?
This is really affecting my quality of life and the beeping is all I can hear whilst in my home.
Thanks.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue to us, we appreciate it. We have checked and the traffic lights here are working as intended. These traffic lights use a system called Green Person Authority which means that they are set to remain on the green signal for pedestrians until a vehicle approaches, they will then change automatically to give the green signal to vehicles. Once the vehicles have passed the signals they will change back to green for pedestrians. The audible signal (beeping) has been checked and is set at its lowest volume, the audible signal only operates between the hours of 07:00 to 22:00hrs. Should you need anything else, or have any questions, you may wish to contact our customer services team on 0343 222 1234
