Wait button doesn’t work
Reported via mobile in the Pedestrian wait button not working category anonymously at 06:30, Fri 22 July 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3697069.
It’s either that the timing of the red lights when someone presses the button is too long, or that the wait button on the south side of the road (opposite library) doesn’t always work. Often if there is no one on the library side to press that button then nothing happens. You press the button on south side and it lights up but it cycles round and goes off again without the traffic lights ever changing. It’s a busy road and people get very annoyed with waiting and start taking risks and running across; it’s going to cause an accident. This isn’t a new issue, it’s been happening on and off for years. Please fix it properly.

Yes the wait times are far too long on this crossing and the one a bit further down by Hackney Hospital. Seems to make no difference which side presses the button - the wait times are always far too long, and you have to keep pressing the button to ensure the green man eventually appears. I have reported this before, several years ago, but still nothing has been done about this... would be great if TfL finally can get this issue sorted!
