Broken/Damaged Fence Adjoining The Avenue (BR5 3DL) and A20 Sidcup ByPass
Reported via mobile in the Debris in the carriageway category anonymously at 09:07, Tue 9 August 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3740406.
Please find attached photos taken on 7th April 2022 of the fence adjoining The Avenue (St Pauls Cray, BR5 3DL) and A20 Sidcup ByPass, where fence panels have come down. Please also note that some of the fence panels are broken and need replacing. We had a fence panel replaced several months ago but as can be seen by the photographs it would appear that the whole fence needs a full replacement.
Please can this be attended to as soon as possible. We had to wait 6 months before to have one panel replaced and I'm sure you can appreciate that this isn't acceptable.
Our local councillor and his team have been pressing TfL for action on this once again since April 2022. He has made it clear to us that this fence is the responsibility of TfL. It is therefore very disappointing that despite numerous calls, TfL have so far taken no action to resolve this problem. A pedestrian footpath and small grass verge are all that lies between the A20 Sidcup ByPass and the broken fence panel. This is extremely dangerous and it is concerning that TfL have not addressed this sooner. This matter needs addressing as soon as possible.
Has someone from TfL been to assess the fence? Where are the temporary barriers? The open fence is a danger to motorists and members of the public. We are currently seeing mopeds, motorbikes and the council’s maintenance workers using it as a cut through and driving across the pedestrian footpath.
I sincerely hope to see some action taken as soon as possible or, in the very least, receive an update with regards to this.
