Roadworks seriouy affecting side streets
Reported via mobile in the Roadworks category by Marie Haenlein at 15:26, Fri 12 August 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3750007.
These roadworks are causing hundreds of cars per hour to turn off Grest west Road at south black Lane in Hammersmith thus creating a rat run through to Hogarth Roundabout. It is a nightmare for residents to try and get through from the west through Chiswick mall and Hammersmith terrace. A cyclist was knocked off his bike just now and a neighbour had her car bashed in. Please put up a sign telling motorists that there is no through road. These roadworks are going to be there till December so please help!

Black Lion Lane, Chiswick Mall and Netheravon Road are now seeing hundreds of cars passing through hourly. These are quiet residential streets that are heavily used by pedestrians and their pets and cyclists. Quite of few of the areas residents are elderly and unable to quickly step away from traffic. In addition, Chiswick Mall regularly floods. In recent days we have seen cars backed up down the road when they confront the flood waters. Many attempt to drive through the flooding and while some make it, others have stalled. In addition to the damage to the cars (some of it irreversible), there have in past occasions been incidents of cars being swept into the Thames at the intersection of Chiswick Mall and Chiswick Lane South. So this traffic division is not only a major nuisance, it is dangerous. We strongly advise the closure of Black Lion Lane, Eyot Green, Netheravon Road, Chiswick Mall and Church Road to all but residential and commercial access traffic. If not, someone could well get injured and, with certainty, more cars will be disabled in flood waters.

The traffic congestion on Chiswick Mall continues to worsen, to the point that cars taking this diversion are likely having to wait longer than they would if they had just stayed on the A4. This is because rejoining the A4 in front of Fullers Brewery will slow traffic on both Chiswick Mall/Chiswick Lane South AND the A4. Again, we respectfully request that Black Lion Lane, Eyot Green and Netheravon Rd by closed to all but residential and commercial access traffic. Thank you.
