Diversion route
Reported via desktop in the Mobile Crane Operation category anonymously at 13:05, Mon 15 August 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3755108.
The A501 around Mora Street & Dingley Road was closed throughout the weekend. An official diversion route was in operation. However this took you down Mora Street which is in the Congestion Zone resulting in having to pay a charge. Furthermore the diversion route advised to turn right on Bath Street back onto City Rd contrary to a no right turn at the junction

Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused while the works were underway.
If traffic was being diverted into the CC zone, then charges should have been suspended on that route for the duration of the works. If you have been charged in error, then you have the right to claim a refund.
Banned movements can be lifted under Traffic Order rules to maintain traffic flows, which is what happened in this instance. It would have been the Works Promoter’s responsibility, as part of their traffic management setup, to ensure that the “no right turn” element on the traffic signal was covered to reflect this temporary change.
We will pass all the issues raised with the contractors in their review meetings within TfL.
Thankyou for bringing this to our attention.
