Closure of A3 slip road causing gridlock on local roads
Reported via mobile in the Roadworks category anonymously at 18:36, Thu 29 September 2022
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3857839.
Main issues are drivers ignoring road closure signs and continuing on A3 slip road and then turning down small roads causing gridlock. No signage at all on Blakes Terrace/Blakes Lane saying A3 slip road is closed. Thames Water contacted but not dealt with it nor working on site on 29th. Slip road needs to be closed completely with cones at Shannon’s Corner. Two fire engines on call got stuck today. Parked cars in danger of being damaged.

Cones have been moved by a driver so cars have continued on slip road up to Stanley Avenue where cones moved again. I have put them back. Just before I did this, I watched a van bump up onto the reservation and join the A3. There have been multiples reports of this happening during the day. 8pm now and still a long queue of traffic on Blakes Lane and cars continuing to drive down A3 slip road & then down side roads.

Still Gridlock is causing absolute chaos in residential street surrounding this road closure. Vehicles are turning 180 degrees and travelling the WRONG WAY down the A3 slip road to join the Shannon Corner roundabout. Cars are also travelling down FOOTPATHS on residential streets!!!

Still Gridlock on residential streets surrounding the Closure. All A3 bound traffic travelling down roads you could normally only get one car through! Residents cannot get in or out! Worst of all it’s been over the weekend with no waterwork workmen in attendance. Road closed for nothing! If companies are closing roads they should be made to work URGENTLY 24/7 to get road open again as soon as it is possible.
