The traffic lights outside Becontree Station activate all day without being pressed

Reported via desktop in the General Fault category anonymously at 15:46, Sat 8 October 2022

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS3876617.

For the last 3 months that I have noticed, the traffic lights outside Becontree Station (RM9) are activating from about 7:00am every day til 10pm at night, without anyone pressing the button. This causes a noise nuisance as they bleep every 30 seconds and pollution as cars are held up un-necessarily. The noise is driving me and my wife mad as it wakes us up every weekend when we don't need to be up early. I believe you are committed to reducing pollution and nuisance. Please fix this issue as soon as possible. Thank you

Updates

  • These traffic lights are still broken. They activate without the buttons being pressed, which causes a noise nuisance and un-necessary pollution as the traffic is held up for no reason. This is still happening from 7am until late every day and is affecting our sleep, as we wait for the next lot of bleeping every 20 to 30 seconds.

  • These lights are still broken / button stuck in. It's been a month since I made the last update and they still activate without anyone pressing the button. Today is a Saturday and I've heard them from about 7am, approximately every 30 seconds. This is a noise nuisance and when the traffic is held up un-necessarily it causes avoidable pollution. You have a nuisance and pollution reduction policy, so please fix these as soon as you can!
