Pothole on Hammersmith flyover
Reported via mobile in the Pothole category anonymously at 10:30, Thursday 12 January 2023
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS4118090.
Dear sirs,
I hope all well. I wrote this email on the day of the incident to the council, they have only just responded today ( 12th January) to inform me that I have to speak to you regarding the issue. They don’t look after this area, TFL does.
I am extremely distraught, we were travelling over the Hammersmith flyover driving back from Oxford on Sunday 18th December at 13.30. There was a large pothole in the road that could not be missed without causing an accident. It has burst 2 of my tyres on the left hand side of my car, I am surprised we didn’t crash as the steering also was compromised. We managed to pull into the nearest, safest place. We have been sitting here for almost 2 hours waiting for an emergency call out to arrive. I attach 3 pictures of the damaged tyres, they have quoted us £850 plus VAT to replace tyre's and fit them. We were travelling to my mother in laws for a pre-Christmas lunch as she is due in hospital for an operation relating to cancer over the Christmas period. The result of your pothole means we will now miss our family celebration :-( The weather which is obviously out of anyones control has resulted in us sat freezing and soaking wet. I look forward to hearing from you as soon as you can please. Why is there a pot hole in your road that has damaged our car in this way. As you can imagine £850 plus vat needs to be paid today for us to be able to drive away. We haven’t got that sort of money spare and it’s not our fault :-(
I await your response.
Best wishes
Kate and Adam
