Broadfields Avenue phase skipped

Reported via desktop in the General Fault category anonymously at 15:39, Wednesday 18 January 2023

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS4145653.

A number of times the phase for Broadfields Avenue is skipped completely, even though there are queues on both sides. This happened today around 1:15pm.

The full green phase coming from the east remains for a long time and then it goes to the full green phase for the west with no green phase for Broadfields Avenue in between.

As it is the traffic light is rather terrible and needs addressing, with possibly the north and south sides of Broadfields Avenue given separate green phases if it is impossible to widen them to 2 lanes which it probably is.

(A right turn from Edgware Way into Kenilworth Road, or a U-turning area would solve some issues too and would prevent traffic going round Broadhurst Avenue to achieve this).

Updates

  • This also happening at other times. I usually pass through this Junction at about 14.40 daily. Despite traffic queuing northbound and southbound the lights miss out the green phase. This was reported a few months ago. Also the north/south green phase was only approx 13 seconds leading northbound traffic to queue down to Hale Lane.
