Traffic light stuck on red.

The traffic light in front of McDonald's in Hainault street, Ilford, (the one in front of Holstock road) was not working. The light wasn't turning green, there were many cars waiting to come inside holstock road and there were cars waiting to leave the street but the Traffic light was red for a very long period of time. It was creating traffic as car wanting to come inside havelock street couldn't do so because there were car waiting to leave and as there was not enough space for car to do so in a safe matter without causing any sort of collision due to the narrow street. This was all caused due to the faulty traffic light as it did not detect any car wanting to leave the street so the light did not turn green so I believe it is an issue with the sensor but it is unacceptable that this happens because it makes it dangerous for car and creates a lot of frustration to the drivers and if it was an emergency it would waste precious time. The issue has been there for more than 10minutes so the cars eating to leave had to go through a red light to avoid creating traffic. my main concern was that all the car waiting to leave had to go with the red traffic lights because it was not turning green. My concern is that will there be point taken off my driving licence or will I get a fine? although the issue was with the traffic light?
