Roadworks not listed / taking too long

Reported via desktop in the Roadworks category anonymously at 07:29, Thursday 23 March 2023

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS4348238.

These roadworks are taking up 2 of the 3 vehicle lanes which is causing serious congestion - there doesn't appear to be any need for the lane closures other than to park a maintenance vehicle / unit in the closed off lane. Appreciating there MAY be an purpose to them (other than its that time of year when councils seek to retain their road budget and so flood London with coned off areas to give the impression of road works underway), however, there's no consideration given to how to minimise the disruption being caused. For example; . List the roadworks on the 'london works*' site so people can plan ahead (last night, no road works were shown to be affecting this road' . modify the traffic light sequence so that the congestion is eased with slightly increased green light time . stop buses (in particular) turning right at this junction - it is causing chaos . stop cars turning left at this junction, they can't use the left hand lane which is for buses so between the two no-one can go ahead whilst they dither about how to turn left / right across each other. . having adjusted the lights to improve traffic flow, remember to return them to normal sequencing when (IF) the works ever get finished (why are you so bad at doing this?)

*The irony of a site being called 'London Works' when the whole purpose of TFL road management seems to be 'stop people getting to / from work'. Not everybody has the choice to use public transport
