No clear signs blackwall tunnel north is closed
Reported via mobile in the Roadworks category anonymously at 01:41, Sunday 2 April 2023
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS4387450.
From kidbrook to the mouth of the blackwall tunnel no signs to say northbound is closed tonight, there was one lane closure then two lane closure signs only- implying one lane is still operational. 2 hours in stand still traffic I get to the side of the tunnel to find out it’s fully closed every trying to turn and find an alternate route which delayed us for another hour by the raddison hotel area. It’s bad enough that the southbound is closed causing 1-2 hr delays at Rotherhithe. But to close north bound with no signs to say it’s fully closed is very wrong. My car had 70 miles of petrol I’m now on 10 miles due to siting in a road wasting so much time and didn’t even get to work had to turn back somehow after 3 hours and just go home

Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. The northbound tunnel wasn’t closed, which is why there were no signs stating same.
A section of the A102 northbound was closed for bridge installation works associated with the Silvertown Tunnel. This had a signed diversion from Blackwall Lane slip, Blackwall Lane, Millennium Way, Ordnance Crescent, Tunnel Avenue, Tunnel Approach and into tunnel.
Any further detail that might be required will have to come from the Silvertown Tunnel project team.
