Whilst turning right at box junction at above address there was a large pothole plus a number of smaller potholes in same area where turning right, As it was dark at 20:30 on 9.4.23 the car was driven over the pothole causing the tyre to burst. The nearest safe place to stop was Texaco Petrol station at E1W2BN. The AA was called to assist and arrived around 12 midnight and had to replace the tyre with a new one as the tyre was not repairable and new tyre was at a cost of £90. Whilst parking in the texaco petrol station we may have incurred a parking charge of £100 as parking is limited to 20 mins and the car was there over 2 hours awaiting recovery. As this is a clear fault with the road we would like the cost of replacement tyre and possible parking fee if incurred reimbursed as damage was caused solely by poor road condition at time of driving on the road. We have been informed by tower hamlets local council that the street pothole location falls under TFL. We have tried to use the customer line bit keep getting cut off and there does not appear to be any other way of contacting TFL to raise this complaint. Hopefully this will be responded to or alternatively we will have to raise this with local ombudsman as we have found np other way of contacting TFL. If this is not the correct way to pit in a claim for compensation could you please advise of how we do this (not via the telephone number ) as we were unable to get to speak to anyone despite calling several tomes.
