The manhole cover is rocking and the noise is steadily getting worse.

Reported via mobile in the Manhole Cover - Damaged (rocking or noisy) category anonymously at 11:27, Monday 22 May 2023

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS4581990.

The cover is again making a racket as cars and lorries pass over it, often causing us to wake up very early in the morning. This is a problem which recurs every few years. Is this Thames Water manhole still needed? Could you please sort this out.

  • Two vehicles from Thames Water arrived to look at the manhole last week. They appeared to put a remote control vehicle down the manhole; they then used a brush to remove some dust from the rim and replaced the manhole cover. They stood on the cover and could see it was still rocking. The noise has since got worse. Yesterday my elderly neighbours (husband 90+) were complaining to me that they were completely unable to sleep. Can you please provide an update as to when and how this problem is going to be fixed.
