These traffic lights are not working properly due to the problem with the setting.
Reported via desktop in the General Fault category by M Abanur at 08:08, Saturday 3 June 2023
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS4625900.
While driving on Ballard Lane in Lane 3 and intending to make a right turn onto Nether Street, there is an issue with the malfunctioning traffic lights. Currently, the traffic lights are not functioning properly due to a problem with their settings. When the traffic light is red, it also remains red for the oncoming traffic.
However, when it's time to proceed, there is a specific setting that allows vehicles to go straight with a green arrow while requiring those turning right onto Nether Street to wait for the light to turn green. Once the traffic light turns green, one can make a right turn onto Nether Street. However, the problem arises when the oncoming traffic also has a green light, obstructing motorists from safely making the right turn and leading to significant traffic congestion.
In my opinion, to resolve this issue, the traffic light should display a red signal for the oncoming traffic that intends to go straight ahead when someone needs to turn right onto Nether Street. This adjustment would ensure the safety of vehicles turning right and allow them to pass through smoothly.
