The current timing settings at the intersection of Aerodrome Road and Grey Hound Hill are causing severe congestion and inconvenience for motorists in the area.

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS4625935.

I am writing to bring to your immediate attention a critical problem concerning the timing of traffic lights on Aerodrome Road. The current timing settings at the intersection of Aerodrome Road and Grey Hound Hill are causing severe congestion and inconvenience for motorists in the area.

Observations and reports from drivers using Aerodrome Road and Grey Hound Hill consistently indicate that the traffic lights allow only a minimal number of vehicles to pass through before turning red. This issue leads to significant traffic congestion during peak hours and negatively impacts the efficiency of traffic flow in this crucial area.

The consequences of this timing problem are as follows:

Congestion: The limited number of vehicles permitted to proceed before the traffic light changes to red results in rapid congestion build-up on both Aerodrome Road and Grey Hound Hill. This congestion affects not only the immediate area but also leads to spillover effects on surrounding roads, compounding the traffic issue.

Delays and Frustration: The short duration of the green signal at the traffic lights causes substantial delays for drivers. Commuters using this route experience extended travel times, leading to frustration and inconvenience. The repeated stops due to the limited green signal duration further exacerbate driver dissatisfaction.

Environmental Impact: The increased congestion caused by the inadequate traffic light timing results in prolonged idling periods for vehicles, leading to unnecessary fuel consumption and elevated carbon emissions. This adverse environmental impact undermines efforts to reduce pollution and contributes to air quality degradation in the vicinity.
