Absolute disaster

Reported via mobile in the Roadworks category anonymously at 09:36, Wed 13 September 2023

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS4988918.

Are you people insane. Have you seen the chaos in and around Richmond. The traffic is backed up on the a316 to almost the m3. There is gridlock around all of Richmond. I'm sure this is not bringing the pollution level down with the ulez zone. And you're charging 12.50 to join the chaos. Don't tell me to be polite when the works are destroying everyone who uses this route lives. All I can hear from my house is constant beeping of pissed off drivers stuck in complete gridlock. This needs to be rethought and addressed immediately. This is supposed to go on until next year June.

Updates

  • Absolutely disaster for locals who need to use this road for their daily lives. This morning, I take kids to school, which normally costs 35 mins in total. Today, it takes 3 hours!

People on the construction site are taking time to do some work, coffee, chat and cigarettes are all over the place.

Can you do the work in the non-rush hours to respect basic living rights of locals?

  • I echo other users. I have complained to our local MP, it took me three hours to get to Hampton and back to get my son to school. This cannot continue until next year. Please suspend these works, it is not sustainable.

  • This is not acceptable. It took 2 and a half hours to travel 13 miles today. It was at a standstill at times. This cannot be left like this. The workers were standing around and not doing any work?? There was hardly any prior notice??

  • Total chaos in Richmond this morning. Took one of my colleagues an hour and 3/4 to get from Richmond Hill Hotel to Waitrose where he abandoned his car and walked to the station.

  • This is chaos! A little residential road, Raleigh Road, which is already behind the roundabout is not stuck from all sides with cars! Those of us who leave at the end of the road can't really leave or get to our homes! It took half an hour to get home from the perpendicular road (2mins walk!) and I was an hour late to my work. On top of it, everyday for the past week out part of our road smells of fumes! This is family road full of young children and a nursery just down the road! This is not sustainable for a year, you need to reconsider how you have planned our works as they cannot be done at the expense of ours and children's health and mental health.

  • Anyone thought about the poor bus drivers coping with this appalling road mismanagement and works. What is trying to be achieved anyway? Making so much misery for so many in the entire Richmond area. T. Wright
