Light stuck on red where road narrows to single lane

Reported via desktop in the Stuck on red category anonymously at 09:16, Mon 5 February 2024

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS5532608.

Temporary traffic light handling eastbound traffic on Bellevue Road SW17 7EG (at its junction with St James’s Drive) has been stuck on red now (0900 5 February) for 24 hours (or very nearly). Traffic builds up at busy times (most of the day) the entire length of Bellevue Road and beyond (Trinity Road and Burntwood Lane) prompting drivers (despairing 319 and G1 bus drivers among them) to overtake those drivers unwilling to jump the light. All the ingredients for an accident are there, i.e. acute frustration prompting a willingness to break the law, oncoming traffic notwithstanding. Police were informed last night.
