Large pothole on A40 heading eastbound on Edgeware road flyover.

Reported via desktop in the Pothole (minor) category anonymously at 18:06, Monday 12 February 2024

Sent to TfL 5 minutes later. TfL ref: FMS5567933.

I was driving early Sunday 11th on the Eastbound A40 flyover around Edgeware Road in the inside lane when I hit a large unseen pothole which was very deep and consequently my left front tyre burst. I had to have the tyre replaced. I went back later to try and get a photo but could not as the traffic was too fast and I couldn't get out of the car. The attached is the nearest junction sign which should enable you to locate and fix the problem. I also have a chip on the Alloy. I will be claiming from Westminster the cost of the replacement tyre and chipped alloy. Please advise if this is the correct way to claim for the damaged tyre and wheel. I need to be compensated for this due to the failure of Westminster council failing to maintain the road. Many thanks.

  • Thanks for the reply. I would disagree with the classification "Pothole (Minor)" as like I said, it burst my tyre, but that is up to you. Please advise how I make a claim for the cost of the replacement tyre and wheel remedial works. Many thanks.
