Long running roadworks
Reported via desktop in the Roadworks category anonymously at 14:57, Tuesday 2 April 2024
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS5796303.
These roadworks were originally scheduled to start in April 2023 and be finished in January 2024. The work started on schedule but, by June, the completion date had inexplicably slipped to March 2024. It is now April and the work has still not been completed. I dread to think of the economic and environmental impacts of this fiasco.

Can you please tell me when these roadworks which were due to finish at the end of March 2024 are now going to finish, why they have overrun and how much penalty is being incurred on a daily basis for each day this is not completed?

Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. We are aiming to complete the main works by 26 April 2024 with commissioning of the remaining two traffic signal sites booked in for w/c 22/4.
In terms of the delays, the initial delay from Jan 24 to March 24 was due to delays in getting utilities to site to complete their diversionary works. Our Phase 3 works were then delayed by 4 weeks in January 24 due to a separate issue with UKPN. We also encountered a delay during Phase 3 when excavating for the new widened central reservation on Kingston Road. This meant part of the carriageway resurfacing works planned for March 24 had to be set back to this month. These works are now complete.
Just to advise that we plan to remove the remaining lane closures later this week. Please let me know if you need any further information. If the issue persists, please raise another report or contact our customer services team on 0343 222 1234.
