Traffic light again has been reversed causing immediate serious danger. Looks deliberate.

Reported via mobile in the Damage - pole leaning / equipment detached from pole/facing the wrong direction category anonymously at 12:52, Saturday 3 August 2024

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS6311312.

This is similar to the incident I reported on July 7. It’s slightly different and looks as if someone deliberately and carefully reversed the light. Signal for traffic turning R off southbound carriageway has been spun 180 degrees and looks as if it is intended to direct traffic from northbound carriageway. It displays a green “straight ahead” arrow to northbound drivers, when the southbound traffic has a green light to turn right across their path. Again, It’s an accident waiting to happen. Please could you put a security camera monitor on that junction rather than awaiting a report by a passer-by. Twice in a month: that’s too many.

  • Today, 5 Aug, around 8pm, I returned and saw that nobody has yet repaired this dangerous 180-degree turn of the traffic light. This morning I received an email referring to my report of July 7 stating that the repair had been made. But that was the July 7 report! These photos show cars turning R across the path of the northbound drivers who are wrongly seeing a straight-ahead green arrow. Please can someone fix this urgently and investigate why my Aug 3 report - in which I wrote “again” and “immediate serious danger” - was allowed to be dismissed. I had specified the disparity between the Aug 3 situation and that of July 7.

  • Traffic light is still reversed and presenting a hazard at 13:41 today Aug 6 when I passed by.

  • Still no action on this hazardous situation where the southbound green right-turn light (but not the red one) has been flipped 180 degrees - and turned to point upwards - so that northbound drivers see a green “ahead” arrow while the southbound traffic has a green right-turn arrow to cross their path. Photos are from 21:35 on Aug 6

  • I rang TfL this morning. The man told me he would speak to the team members straight away. Ten hours later, it still hasn’t been fixed.

  • It was fixed sometime between 9 August and 23 August. I had asked to receive updates, received no updates but saw on visual check that it was fixed. I am somewhat surprised that the Fix My Street entry doesn’t show this as Fixed. It’s evidence suggesting that the original report wasn’t logged properly but was confused with the previous July 7 report of a similar incident.
