Both wait buttons on north side of crossing broken

Reported via mobile in the Pedestrian wait button not working category anonymously at 10:37, Saturday 10 August 2024

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS6338974.

Both pedestrian wait buttons on north side of crossing are not working.

This is an extremely busy road with drivers regularly exceeding the speed limit. It is a busy pedestrian crossing for the Wandle Trail.

A pedestrian was killed by a driver whilst waiting here a few weeks ago.

Please fix urgently.

  • Do faulty traffic lights for motor vehicles have an SLA of 28 days?

If not, why is there such a long SLA for faults that negatively impact vulnerable road users such as pedestrians? This is a safety issue.

  • Additionally the pedestrian wait button on the south west corner of the crossing will deactivate after a few seconds, even if you wait near the button.

Particularly given the safety risks posed to pedestrians waiting here it seems odd to require pedestrians to wait close to the road edge for the buttons to not be deactivated.
