Unnecessary lane closure

Reported via mobile in the Roadworks category anonymously at 21:16, Sun 3 November 2024

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS6690434.

The roadworks currently going on at Bow flyover interchange are inevitably going to kill someone - I live locally and have to use this junction on a regular basis and even though these roadworks have only been in place for just over a month, the amount of times I’ve been sat in traffic either with emergency vehicles behind or in front of me, unable to move due to the unnecessary lane closures prior to the roundabout - especially as this road leads to the Royal London Hospital and is regularly used by ambulances. Due to the rapid narrowing of the road, road users are unable to move out of the way and ambulances, fire engines and police are left waiting until the traffic lights change. When you get to the roundabout the lane closures on the slip road make little sense - as an example, coming off the A12 southbound onto the roundabout the left hand lane is closed, however this lane should go to the left towards Stratford while the right hand lane should continue straight towards Tesco or right towards Bow - the lane closure is therefore unnecessary. I genuinely believe that these roadworks will inevitably kill someone due to emergency services not able to get through efficiently.
