Roadworks causing major congestion
Reported via desktop in the Roadworks category anonymously at 16:48, Thu 5 December 2024
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS6824281.
Construction work in this area is massively impacting flow of traffic across Blackfriars bridge. It took 1hr 30 mins for me to travel from Dunstan’s Road to south entrance Blackfriar’s station stop on the 63 bus stop 3 times this week travelling to work. This usually takes 45-50 mins during rush hour and the delays the work is causing due to the single lanes is completely unacceptable for this major route. Intervention is needed to optimise flow of traffic across the bridge and limit congestion. This is particularly important for SE London residents who cannot benefit from easy access to tube services and rely on bus routes like the 63 bus to reach north Bankside areas.

Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. These lights are usually fine in isolation therefore I believe it could be the cumulative impacts due to the 2 Thames Water emergency works further north on Farringdon Road and King Cross giving an overall negative impact to this corridor. Ongoing signal timings reviews have been undertaken throughout however its challenging with volume of emergencies that have arrived. The works should be finished soon as its Cadent Gas enabling their works to reconfigure an island in preparation for their major gas works starting here in January under a southbound closure. If the issue persists, please raise another report or contact our customer services team on 0343 222 1234.
