Traffic lights out of sync creating frustration and dangerous decisions by drivers

Reported via desktop in the General Fault category anonymously at 21:35, Tuesday 7 January 2025

Sent to TfL 9 minutes later. TfL ref: FMS6947954.

I see that others have reported the same problem, both on this site and on Southwark's own website, but Southwark ignore the problem as it's TfL responsibility and TfL close the issue as they don't seem to understand the situation.

Please review the complaints again: the traffic lights on the jct of Redriff Rd (B205) and Lower Rd (A200) are out of sync with the traffic lights preceding them for traffic coming from B205, jct with Deal porters way. The end result is extremely long delays (often of over 20-30 minutes to drive a few yards), with buses and cars ignoring traffic lights, the yellow junction and bike lane. I've seen several cars jumping the lights and blocking the junction as well as the bike lane because there is no other way to move forward. Buses do the same. There is a lot of road rage going on here since the traffic light priorities were changed. Please understand it's a safety issue, people make horrible decisions just so they can move forward. You got this junction totally wrong and apparently you keep ignoring all the reports coming your way.

  • This was the situation yesterday. And almost every day. I'm really surprised you don't consider this to be an urgent problem, as it has such a huge impact on public transport and the local area. It's been reported so many times before this report and it was just closed as "nothing to see here". Could you please expedite, this situation is ridiculous!
