Bottleneck on pavement

Reported via mobile in the Pavement Overcrowding category anonymously at 18:53, Wednesday 29 January 2025

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS7055017.

Due to the scaffolding on both sides of the bridge at the point over Upper Thames Street, the stairs for the underpass as well as the bus stops P and Q, there are issues with a lack of space on the pavement. I cross the bridge twice a day on my commute and the mix of pedestrians and people waiting for a bus means there often isn't space for two people to pass at the same time. This evening was a particular case in point, barely enough space to walk single file without bumping into people. The issue would be solved if the scaffold on the bridge was taken down (it's been up for years) and/or the bus stops were moved to a location where the pavement is wider. It's a big issue.
