Dangerous crossing between Eburne Road and Hertslet Road

Reported via mobile in the Safety concern (traffic or pedestrian) category by Catherine Cox at 16:54, Friday 7 February 2025

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS7102420.

I am complaining about the dangerous crossing that has been left without a working pedestrian crossing for months now. Since the fire at the kebab shop the pedestrian crossing and traffic lights were temporarily closed due to debris. This pedestrian crossing is on Seven Sisters Road where it crosses over from Hertslet Road to the school on Eburne Road and NOT the lights I have been made to select. Your virtual tool does not list the pedestrian crossing that is suspended.

No temporary crossings were put in place leaving a dangerous crossing for all pedestrians, specifically those of us taking our children to school.

The crossing is between Hertslet Road and Eburne Road and is a heavily used crossing. This is where our school is and we need to cross at this section. It is too far for people to travel up or down to an alternative crossing as most people are rushing to get to school on time. The alternatives are too far and would mean coming back on yourself.

No one is doing this. Everyone is manoeuvring at this dangerous section of road, made extremely dangerous by these cyclists. You have drivers stopping and trying to let us cross our children over and cyclists zooming past causing us to step back and forth in the road to avoid them. We then have the bus lane to tackle and again, more dangerous cyclists! Obviously the drivers are not a problem and they stop when it is safe to do so but dodging cars, buses and these selfish cyclists is making this an extremely dangerous crossing. Please do not wait until someone is seriously hurt!

There is no reason that this pedestrian crossing is still closed as it is now safe to re-open it please do so immediately or put in a temporary crossing.

  • I am writing regarding report no: FMS7102420. It has surpassed 28 days that was stated to permanently fix and make safe the crossing that has been closed for many months. No temporary crossing has been put in place and the crossing remains closed.

I have witnessed on several occasions parents and children almost being hit by vehicles and bicycles and yet TFL have left this dangerous situation to continue.

I have witnessed cars doing emergency stops, traffic being held up while disabled users make their way across and I have personally witnessed near misses with buses.

This crossing to the school is heavily in talked about in the playground and it our view that TFL are waiting for a serious accident to occur before you make the crossing safe and install some temporary lights.

Our safety does not and should not rely upon the owner of a kebab shop! Fire investigations and insurance assessments can take months to years and you have no right to allow this danger to continue until the kebab shop owner clears his burnt down shop.

Please install a temporary crossing immediately.
