Extremely dangerous
Reported via mobile in the Roadworks category anonymously at 18:47, Friday 11 April 2025
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS7423164.
The new cycle lane is EXTREMELY dangerous. I predict someone will be killed here within 12 months. I myself was nearly knocked off my bike having legitimately waited at the bike traffic lights until green. The car turning left aggressively beeped at me as though I had done something wrong. I have since seen several similar incidents, including groups of cyclist being forced to abruptly stop and huddle together as several cars turn left oblivious to the near fatalities they have just missed causing. Finally when driving my car I realised it is very unclear to car drivers they cannot just turn left when the lights go green as they will be passing over an essentially unmarked cycle lane. This is very urgent as it is a tragedy waiting to happen.

Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. Regarding the completed works at the Bow Roundabout. It is not possible to include a right turn arrow at the Stratford High Street westbound stop line as this could encourage right turning into the roundabout itself and oncoming traffic which would be a safety issue. Nevertheless, we will review monitor the operation of the junction and the line markings at the junction as part of our post construction reviews and make amendments as required. If the issue persists, please raise another report or contact our customer services team on 0343 222 1234.
