Dangerous Series of Potholes on A127

Reported via desktop in the Pothole (major) category anonymously at 19:42, Monday 21 April 2025

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS7461674.

On Sunday, 20th April 2025 at approximately 12:40pm, while driving in the fast lane of the A127, somewhere after the turnoff for Hall Lane but before the bend towards Warley Street, my vehicle, a Mini, hit a large and deep pothole. This is one of many potholes in that stretch of road, making it extremely difficult to steer a safe course, especially at the national speed limit of 70mph.

At the time, I was taking my children to the aquarium for the Easter holidays. The impact of the pothole violently shook the car and frightened my family. This section of road is incredibly dangerous, not only due to the potential for serious vehicle damage, as experienced in my case, but also because it could force drivers to swerve into adjacent lanes, increasing the risk of accidents.

Unfortunately, the damage meant cancelling our plans for the weekend and arranging for urgent repairs. The cost of the repair was £162, carried out by:

MOBILE TYRES 4 YOU LTD Job Number: 450 Yard 3, Burlington Gardens Hullbridge, Essex SS5 6BE Tel: 07724 772743 Email: [email protected] Website: mobiletyres4you.co.uk

Due to the dangerous nature of the road, I have not yet been able to return to the site to take photographs. However, I strongly urge that immediate repairs be made, as this section of the A127 poses a significant risk to drivers.

I am formally requesting full compensation, not only for the repair costs but also for the time and inconvenience caused over the Easter period, which I had to spend resolving this entirely preventable issue.
