Sinkholes on A22
Reported via mobile in the Pothole (major) category anonymously at 13:56, Friday 2 May 2025
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS7515245.
Picture is difficult to get to show extent of problem as it doesn't look major. This is a growing sinkhole on the A22, right near a pedestrian crossing on an adverse camber. There is a lot of very heavy traffic, heavy articulated vehicles and buses and when they hit this hole the noise is deafening and sounds like a loud bang/crash, this is also a hotspot for accidents with vehicles continually going over the speed limit. This has been waking us all up through the night and several vehicles have then stopped to inspect damage. It is an accident waiting to happen and the hole is getting larger by the day.
