Road Works

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS7533859.
Hello - getting in touch about the roadworks at the junction of A205 South Circular and A2216 Lordship Lane which look set to be in place for months. TfL's traffic status update classes these as "moderate" but in the rush hour it is much worse than that - huge delays and frustration. The pinch point is reducing the traffic to one lane exactly on the junction northbound. I am forced to use this route most mornings and the prospect of it being like this for weeks is totally depressing. I am sure the works are essential but anything that can be done to limit the duration of the works or reduce the blockage at peak times would be much appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. Thank you for contacting us regarding the road works taking place at the junction of A205 South Circular Road and Lordship Lane. The work taking place is essential work to install controlled (green person facilities) pedestrian crossings, upgrade the existing traffic signals and renew the carriageway surface at the junction. As from Tuesday this week, we have now completed most of the civils work which required extensive traffic management to remain in place for safety of the public at the junction. We are now in the last phase of our programme and the remaining work (involving installation of new signal poles, signal heads and wiring) will mostly take place under localised lane closures except overnight carriageway resurfacing which has been rescheduled to early June to accommodate possible water leak repairs. Congestion at the junction and its approaches should now reduce following the change of traffic management this week and in the meantime, we remain on track to complete all the work by 6 June as originally planned. If the issue persists, please raise another report or contact our customer services team on 0343 222 1234.
