Safety Concern – Traffic Light Timing at Beaufort Road / Lingfield Avenue Junction. I regularly cross this junction on foot—at least twice daily—and am often accompanied by my two young children. Unfortunately, I’ve found that the traffic light timings at this junction do not allow sufficient time for pedestrians to cross safely. There is no pedestrian crossing or green man, so I usually begin to cross when the light is red for one direction of traffic. However, before I can reach the other side, the lights turn green and vehicles begin moving again. This puts pedestrians, especially children, at serious risk.

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS7790493.

I am writing to raise a road safety concern regarding the traffic lights at the crossroads of Beaufort Road, Cranes Park and Lingfield Avenue in Kingston upon Thames.

Summary of the issue:

Location: Junction of Beaufort Road, Cranes Park and Lingfield Avenue, KT1

Problem: Lights change too quickly for pedestrians to cross safely

No dedicated pedestrian phase or green man

I and other residents are frequently caught mid-crossing as traffic resumes. This is a busy crossing and used by a lot of school children.

I kindly request that this junction be reviewed as a priority. Ideally, there should be a safe pedestrian phase or crossing facility, and at a minimum, the timing should be adjusted to allow people to cross fully before traffic resumes.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I would appreciate a response confirming that this has been logged and an indication of what actions will be taken.
