Works causing traffic chaos

Reported via desktop in the Roadworks category anonymously at 12:43, Saturday 5 July 2025

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS7812944.

These works have been going on for weeks. The traffic managemnt has been very badly handled thought out. Due to the phasing of the lights at Chalkers Corner / Clifford Avenue & A316. Traffic is now constantly blocking the approach roads and is very dangerous as motorists and other road users try and navigate there way round. not to mention emergency vehicles that I have seen repeatedly stuck. Its just extremely poor traffic management that one could just about excuse had it been one day but this has been every day since the works started. Previous compllaints about this claim this issue has been fixed, when clearly it has not

  • No work has taken place for days. They should be working 24/7. How can a major road be blocked for so long without an attempt to completion? Shouldn't there be penalties? And this is an emergency.

  • Thank you for taking the time to report this to us. It is much appreciated. The team are in regular contact with Cadent Gas in regards to these works and receiving daily updates on the works. The site manager has advised due to the difficulty of the job, they have now placed signs advising residents “Specialist work been undertaking, not always visible onsite”.
