Dip and hump about 5+ metres across, in the middle of the north bound carriageway where marked on the map.

Reported via desktop in the Pothole (major) category by JOHN ANDERSON at 21:39, Sunday 28 September 2025

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS8225538.

I was very nearly thrown off my motorcycle at 60mph by the massive dip in the road at the position marked, just before joining the north bound M1 motorway. I was extremely fortunate to closely avoid a massive serious life changing accident - and that is not an exagerration. I was thrown upwards off the seat of the motorcycle and only just managed to keep control. This is near the centre of the carriageway, between the two lanes, just before the M1 slip road. It is not a pot hole, but more like a smooth ditch and hump which has been present for some time. It is a serious safety issue and needs to be investigated quickly, before someone is injured or killed. From the roadside it might appear quite insignificant, but it is capable of launching a motorcyclist into the air.

  • I second this report, it is a substantial dip in the carriageway and leading vehicles appear to rock quite violently on negotiating the bump.

  • This is getting worse!!! The dip is now much worse and seems to be spreading. Definitely a safety issue.
