Reported via mobile in the Roadworks category anonymously at 13:02, Monday 6 October 2025

Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS8258415.

Why have these temporary traffic lights been here for months with no work going on!!

Updates

  • The temporary traffic light on the Hartland Way side of Wickham Rd has been knocked and is now displaying its signal to cars coming along the Wickham Rd towards Croydon NOT across the junction. Thus drivers are faced with 2 lights one showing GREEN and one showing RED. An accident is bound to happen Drivers will meet at speed each believing them to be in the right

You will be pleased to know that our routine inspections had already picked up this issue, the traffic lights have been damaged and TfL have had to put temporary lights out, UKPN are due to reconnect the power in due course and all works are planned this month. • Temporary traffic lights at Orchard Avenue junction have not been timed correctly. The pedestrian sequence is too short and turns on immediately as the red light for preceding sequence comes on, yet vehicles are still turning at this point and there is not enough time for pedestrians to safely cross the road. There is also no safe method of crossing from Bairstow eve corner across Orchard Avenue as there is no pedestrian push button at this location. There is also no audible indication that it is safe for pedestrians to cross. The current temporary traffic lights arrangement is unsafe for pedestrians.
