Every other lamp post turned off including in dark alleyway path
Reported via desktop in the All out - three or more street lights in a row category anonymously at 11:09, Tuesday 7 October 2025
Sent to TfL less than a minute later. TfL ref: FMS8263029.
Every other lamp post from 936 to 976 East Rochester Way, DA15 8PE (including one on the tiny path/alleyway to Wincrofts Drive) are not switched on during darkness, and part of this is a narrow path with high walls both sides. When walking in morning to Falconwood station at 6.30am, it is in pitch darkness, and at 8pm coming home it is in pitch black. The bushes along the pathway are so tall, no one can see you from the road (A2). As a woman, this is terrifying, as a man could easily attack you and/or rape you and no one would see. It is completely unacceptable that the lamp posts are not switched on along this particular area which is quite hidden from public few. You also cannot see where you are stepping, so could step on dogs poo (which people often let happen along here). Every other lamp post is switched off, particularly the one in the tiny path to Wincrofts Drive which is the most hidden and dangerous part. This needs to be rectified immediately in light of the danger to women. Do TFL or LB of Bexley want to wait for someone to get raped before switching on the lights? My previous report RE the same lights was made to TFL on 05 Oct 2023 (5065589) who forward my email to LB of Bexley. LB of Bexley returned it to TFL on basis “this issue is not covered under the Council’s jurisdiction – this has been passed to TfL whose lights we believe that these are”. I also reported same issue in Oct 2024 (TfL ref FMS6575247) and Dec 2024 (FMS6872106) which TFL then fixed finally in Jan 2025. However, nearly a year later, the same lamp posts are out again and have been out for past 2 to 3 weeks Waiting for these to be fixed during any “next scheduled works” will not be acceptable, when there is real danger of being attacked or raped during these times. It is not ok for a lone woman, teenager or anyone to walk down these pathways in complete darkness, particularly when these paths are hidden from view from public and are the only way people can get to their homes along the A2. These need to be fixed on an emergency. Please update.
